UCF Homecoming distributed its first round of Comedy Knight and Concert Knight tickets at the Student Union atrium Monday, as students lined up in excitement for next month’s events.

Comedians Marina Franklin and headliner Nick Swardson will ‘Celebrate the Knight,’ as per this fall’s homecoming theme, on Monday, Oct. 10 at 9 p.m. at the CFE Arena. Ty Dolla $ign and Ludacris will perform on Concert Knight on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. at the same location.

“There are 6,000 tickets total for each event, and they will be distributed throughout the week among the regional campuses, as well,” UCF Homecoming advisor Courtney Buzan, 26, said. “We are distributing 1,200 tickets each day.”

The daily allotted tickets run out quickly, and Buzan encourages students to line up before distributors arrive.

Tickets are free with a UCF ID.

UCF junior chemistry major Brandon Shannon, 20, and UCF junior computer science major Daniel Belalcazar, 20, grabbed their tickets for both events.

They are open to seeing acts they’ve never seen before.

“I saw John Mulaney last spring without hearing of him and now he’s one of my favorite comedians,” Shannon said.

“I think it’s good to go in that way, so you can hear jokes for the first time,” Belalcazar said. “That happened to me with Jimmy Tatro last year, and now I love the guy.”

Both Shannon and Belalcazar said they haven’t heard of Franklin nor Swardson and are looking forward to their performances on Oct. 10.

Shannon said he is not a big fan of Ludacris, but he will still attend Concert Knight.

“Rapper T-Pain performed last fall and this year is another rapper,” he said. “I wish they were more encompassing of different genres.”

Shannon and Balalcazar also said they wish UCF Homecoming would book more current artists.

“EDM, though,” Belalcazar said. “That would be awesome, but probably very expensive.”

Shannon added that, to him, Concert Knight can be hit or miss.

UCF Homecoming will distribute more tickets throughout the week at the Student Union atrium.
