UCF head football coach Scott Frost and his team now know exactly what lies ahead after the spring game on April 22.
On Thursday morning, the American Athletic Conference released its 2017 football schedule, meaning the Knights’ slate is officially set.
The non-conference schedule will stay as previously announced, meaning the team will host Florida International in its season opener on Sept. 2. Georgia Tech is set to visit Orlando on Sept. 16, while Maine comes to town on Sept. 30. Between those two home contests, UCF will head north to play Maryland on Sept. 23.
The Knights start conference play early this year, as they host Memphis for family weekend on Sept. 9, just one week after opening up the season. That gives UCF its only real homestand of the season, as its first three games will be played in front of the home fans.
Other conference home games include East Carolina on Oct. 14 for homecoming, UConn on Nov. 11 for military appreciation day and South Florida for rivalry week on Nov. 24. The War On I-4 rivalry game will take place on Black Friday this year for the first time since 2014. USF owns a two-game winning streak in the football rivalry series.
In addition to the road game at Maryland, UCF will be away from home on Oct. 7 at Cincinnati, Oct. 21 at Navy, Nov. 4 at SMU and Nov. 18 at Temple.
As announced last week, the Knights will host the 2017 #UCFastival, which includes the football spring game, on April 22.
