UCF student and Knight-Thon captain Kevin Estrada, 20, was arrested Thursday morning on 10 counts of possessing child pornography.

Agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement took Estrada into custody after serving a search warrant at the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity house on Darwin Drive. On his computer, officers found 10 files of children engaging in sexual activity, according to the arrest affidavit.

The same document stated FDLE had investigated Estrada for three months.

Patsy Faulkner, the office manager of Zeta Beta Tau, released a statement: “Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity’s Delta Iota Chapter at the University of Central Florida has expelled a university undergraduate who was arrested Thursday after a three month investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Zeta Beta Tau has a zero tolerance policy regarding illegal activities. As such, the chapter took immediate action and expelled the student.”

Since it is against UCF’s code-of-conduct to possess child pornography, Estrada may face disciplinary action at the university.

Chad Binette, the assistant vice president of UCF News & Information, said while federal student privacy laws prevent him from discussing or acknowledging student conduct cases involving individual students, the UCF Golden Rule is a reliable source for information on the process, which “includes the ability to immediately suspend students on an interim basis.”

“The allegations in this case are despicable,” Binette said.

Brothers of the fraternity declined to comment.

The Central Florida Focus has reached out to the Orlando Regional Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Zeta Beta Tau headquarters, Kevin Extrada, and UCF Interfraternity Council for comment.
