A 19-year-old UCF student was confirmed dead after she was found unresponsive in her Lake Claire apartment on Tuesday morning, according to a release on the UCF Police Department’s Facebook.

Alyssa Michelle Lewis was found by emergency responders in her apartment after family members who could not contact her called 911, according to the release.

The residence halls closed for winter break for most students on Sunday, and Lewis’ roommates checked out of their apartment by then as well, according to the release.

The release stated the death is not believed to be suspicious and the campus community is not threatened.

The cause of death is unknown at this time. UCF PD is working on the investigation with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, according to the release.

The release stated Lewis was a student from Jacksonville who was in her fourth semester at UCF.

Counselors and victim advocates were at the scene to help any family members or students, according to the release.

“We offer our most sincere sympathies to Alyssa’s family and loved ones, and we will make all of our resources available to support them,” UCF’s Associate Vice President and Dean of Students Adrienne Frame said in the release.
